The past 10 years have been interesting for TNA, now known officially as Impact Wrestling. For a while it seemed like the company was on the rise and Impact was getting decent ratings on Spike TV. But that all changed a couple of years ago when the channel decided to drop Impact Wrestling and they’ve struggled to draw a television audience ever since.
The promotion made the jump to Destination America and Impact currently airs on Pop TV, but unfortunately viewership isn’t nearly as high as what the show used to draw on Spike.
Impact Wrestling recently announced that they’ve signed a new deal with Spike TV in the UK and now it looks like the promotion is talking with Spike TV about a potential return to the network in the US.
Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Spike TV Senior Vice President and Executive Producer Scott Fishman was on hand for the Impact Wrestling tapings on Sunday night. Fishman reportedly met with Jeff Jarrett to discuss a number of topics and one of the topics that was discussed was a US TV deal.
Back in October of 2011 when the show was on Spike, Impact managed to bring in over 2 million viewers when James Storm won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. At this point it’s not yet known how far along the talks progressed, but there’s no denying that a return to Spike TV would be a step in the right direction for Impact Wrestling.
