When Jack Swagger announced he had asked for his WWE release on Chael Sonnen’s podcast, there weren’t many people around here who could blame him. Swagger was never given the push many would say was owed to him, and in spite of his strong talent and ability to entertain a crowd he was often subjugated to a minimal on-screen role.
WWE booked Swagger pretty consistently during the height of his Real American angle alongside Cesaro and Zeb Colter, since then he’s been lucky to get a slot on main event, if he’s even in the building at all. Many people were asking if he was injured, no he wasn’t. He just wasn’t getting booked.
Neither WWE or Jack Swagger have officially confirmed that he has been granted his release, but it appears that he may be a free agent now since he is being booked for the WAW show on 3/11 in Norwich, England.
This will be a television taping as well and will also feature Scott Hall, Bushwacker Luke, and former WWE Women’s Champion Jazz.
