It’s been a tough couple of years to be a Real American. Especially if your name is Jack Swagger. He never got the push he really deserved and his “We The People” gimmick, although it still customarily gets a good response from live crowds has never amounted in the push he expected.
Swagger revealed on the latest edition of Chael Sonnen’s podcast he has asked for his release from World Wrestling Entertainment. He said he has grown frustrated with his pushes that would come and go and felt he wasn’t getting the opportunities he is owed.
The big Oklahoman says he is currently considering a MMA career, but with all the talent Impact Wrestling has been losing as of late it will be interesting to see whether or not he winds up there instead. Jeff Jarrett has stated Impact Wrestling is interested in bringing in new talent and Jack would certainly fit that bill.
The Real American said WWE doesn’t value him what he feels he is worth and decided to use Sonnen’s podcast as a platform to break this news. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion hasn’t been featured on WWE television in quite some time and most fans probably couldn’t even tell you what show he’s on. He’s on Smackdown, or at least he was.
There hasn’t been word as to whether WWE will honor this release request, but there is also little reason to keep him around unless they just don’t want anyone else to have him.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
