Conor McGregor is one of the most controversial fighters in the world and he also happens to be one of the most successful fighters as well. McGregor’s success has brought him fame and fortune and it’s been rumored for well over a year now that WWE is interested in cashing in on his popularity.
McGregor got a lot of people talking last year when he talked some serious trash about the WWE roster. Everyone in the wrestling world bought it hook, line, and sinker and it gave McGregor a good reason to step inside the squared circle.
Former WWE announcer Todd Grisham recently signed a deal with UFC and he’s set to do play-by-play work for the promotion. Grisham caught up with Fox Sports to talk about his new job and during the interview he revealed that he would love to see Conor McGregor work with WWE.
“Of course. Why not? Ronda Rousey was there last year or the year before last. We saw Floyd Mayweather fight ‘The Big Show’ at WrestleMania. There’s always those big matches, most of them involving the Undertaker and Triple H and the John Cena’s of the world. But there’s usually that one gimmick match or that one memorable moment that involves an outside celebrity or sports star. I’d love to see Conor McGregor cross over to WWE.”
Although Conor McGregor can talk the talk and walk the walk, he’s not the biggest dog in the fight. Randy Orton has taken shots at McGregor in the past saying that if he does come to WWE he’ll be relegated to the cruiserweight division.
Grisham noted that Vince McMahon likes big guys and he’d probably prefer a fighter like Francis N’gannou if he had the personality that McGregor has. But as we all know, money talks and McGregor would likely make WWE a considerable amount of cash.
