The Rock got the wrestling world talking on Monday when he announced that he would be shooting scenes for “Fighting With My Family” at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. It just so happened that Raw was taking place from the same arena this week and after the show was over The Rock made his way down to the ring.

AJ Lee is one of the characters in the film and she’s being played by Thea Trinidad. Due to AJ Lee’s inclusion in the film the fans greeted The Rock with CM Punk chants. Rock then decided to pull out his phone and call CM Punk from the middle of a WWE ring. Punk didn’t answer because he was out walking his dog Larry, but Rock did leave him a voicemail.
Everyone was talking about The Rock’s now infamous phone call to CM Punk the next morning, but the call apparently didn’t go over well with Vince McMahon. As most wrestling fans know, Punk and WWE aren’t on the best of terms, and the phone call could have potentially turned into a disaster for the company if Punk had picked up and cut one of his pipe bomb promos through the phone.
The Rock is and forever will be The People’s Champion, and he noted that he tries to listen to what the people want, and the people were clearly telling him that they wanted CM Punk.
I work off instinct, always listen to the people and try to give em something special. Huge positive feedback from @WWE Universe. Fun night https://t.co/4AZFOMFqPw
