It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that with Finn Balor returning who could be positioned as the top face on Raw. There is currently a problem in WWE considering the fact that there have only been two people in the top babyface and heel spots of the Raw brand. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns being the faces, with Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens as the top heels of the brand.
Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho could have been turned face because they had fans behind them, but it would have killed their momentum as the top heels of the brand.
It’s also being reported that there are no current plans to turn Roman Reigns heel in spite of opinion. Even though Roman Reigns gets strong boos in some markets, WWE officials are used to this kind of mixed reaction seeing that this has been John Cena’s reception for years now, and he is still the merchandise top seller by a long shot.
WWE higher-ups have learned not to overreact to the reception that John Cena receives on events where he’s met with a mixed reaction, therefore they have taken the same mindset with Roman.
The feeling is that there’s just a very vocal minority that see Roman Reigns as a heel considering how well he is doing in other markets where he is generally accepted as a babyface.
