The WWE Universe were both shocked and surprised to find out that Finn Balor was Raw’s third draft pick on Tuesday night.
The Demon has been waiting in the wings on NXT for a chance to be promoted to the main roster for a long time now but whilst fans were excited to see him finally being given the opportunity that he deserves, have WWE made a mistake by doing it this way?
Finn is a talented superstar and he knows how to make an entrance which is why it would have been incredible for him to be brought up to the main roster as a complete shock addition to a match or as a run in during a high profile match.
Telling the WWE Universe that Finn will definitely be on Raw from now on ruins the surprise, something that The Demon has enjoyed doing in his short time in WWE.
As of yet there is no word on who Finn will be feuding with on the main roster which also takes something away from the anticipation as well. If Finn has debuted in a shocking or surprising fashion then the WWE Universe would then be able to speculate about his forthcoming feud but instead nothing has been mentioned about it.
It would make a lot of sense if Finn stepped into a feud with the man whom he took the NXT Championship from at Beast in the East last year, The Prizefighter Kevin Owens.
But given that many feuds ended at Battleground last year, Finn could step into a rivalry with almost anyone on the roster currently.
The only worry now is that because the WWE Universe has anticipated his debut for so long and now it is finally happening in an underwhelming way, it could end up being a bad move by WWE.
There is no doubting that WWE chose the right roster to put the Demon on, whether he stays face or turn heel will be something the Universe will find out tonight on Raw but if Finn does turn heel then the fantasy feud between him and former WWE Champion Seth Rollins could well be on the table.
Of course it is a little early for WWE to push Balor towards a main event calibre feud, especially since he is still yet to make his debut, but the Irish Superstar has proven time and time again that he is capable of incredible things and he has been the main star to carry NXT over the past year.
It will be also interesting to see how NXT copes with the fact that their talisman has been taken to the main roster, Austin Aries, Shinsuke Nakamura and obviously the NXT Champion Samoa Joe are all left at Full Sail to continue what has already become a world wide phenomenon over the past few years.
The Brand Split will be one of the most challenging things WWE has done in a very long time, they have gone from having a full roster of talent to choose from for all programming to now only having half the amount of stars on the their split roster.
It will be hard for WWE now knowing that they can no longer fall back on the likes of Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins and the same for the women’s division, but at least this means that many stars could finally be given the lime light that they deserve after they have been overlooked for so long.
WWE did state that the brand split would focus more on talent and allow more stars to be pushed because it has opened up more slots on both Raw and SmackDown live but it will be interesting to see who those stars actually are.
Finn will definitely turn into one of the biggest stars on the roster and it wont be long before he is following in the footsteps of all three former Shield members.
With all the talent from NXT that has been promoted over the past few months, Finn will have a lot of familiar faces to choose from when it comes to creating a new interesting feud but the thought that WWE could have done this in a much more interesting way is still going to be at the back of the minds of many of the WWE Universe.
They could user him to replace Aj Styles in The Club. Even though he wasn’t Finn in NJPW.
