AJ Styles joined Steve Austin on the Stone Cold Podcast and the two stars openly talked about AJ’s time in TNA. Styles opened up about his run with the company, and he had mostly good things to say.
He talked about how he was one of the first people to sign with TNA. He says that things really started to pick up with Panda Energy invested in the company and he thought that it was going to take off. Styles added that he thinks one of the problems with the company is that Dixie Carter likes to push the wrestlers that she’s a fan of as opposed to who actually needs to be pushed.
Stone Cold casked AJ Styles if the TNA roster felt like they had to compete with WWE. Styles says that they wanted to be competition for not only WWE, but UFC and anyone else they could compete with because they were fired up. He put over the members of the TNA roster and mentioned Kurt Angle several times.
Austin asked why he would leave the company after such a long run there. Styles told Steve Austin that he felt like he was working hard for TNA and he deserved to be paid more. Stone Cold approved. He said that he didn’t want to take a pay cut so he took a chance and left TNA to travel the world and work wherever he could. Obviously it paid off.
AJ Styles didn’t say anything too revealing as most of the things he said to Steve Austin are things he’s said on podcasts and in interviews over the past few months. But the fact that WWE allowed a conversation about TNA to take place on a WWE Network show was certainly interesting.
The company usually doesn’t mention TNA on WWE programming but it doesn’t look like they had a problem with Steve Austin and AJ Styles doing it on the Stone Cold Podcast. One thing’s for sure, Dixie Carter is definitely marking out right now.
