The Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania is always an insane event and this year’s show was no different. There were some big moments and those moments set up new feuds that will be featured on WWE programming in the coming weeks. Let’s take a look at what we can expect to see going forward.
#5 – Baron Corbin vs Dolph Ziggler
Baron Corbin made his main roster debut on Sunday when he won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania. Corbin faced off against Dolph Ziggler in a singles match that ended in a double count out after they started battling into the crowd. Corbin then drove Dolph Ziggler into the floor with the End of Days and that kept him down for a while.
Dolph Ziggler was the guy that helped Tyler Breeze make the transition to the main roster and it looks like he’ll be doing the same thing with Baron Corbin.
#4 – Zack Ryder vs The Miz
This year Zack Ryder finally got his WrestleMania moment when he won the Intercontinental Championship in the multi-man ladder match. Zack Ryder came out on Raw and told the crowd that WrestleMania 32 was the best night of his life. Ryder thanked his dad and the fans but then The Miz interrupted. Miz pushed Ryder over the edge by making fun of his dad so Zack put the title on the line.
During the match The Miz went to the outside and got in Mr. Ryder’s face which caused Mr. Ryder to react and push him. Maryse then jumped out of the crowd and got in Mr. Ryder’s face. The Miz took advantage of all the choas and then hit Zack Ryder with the Skull Crushing finale to win the title.
Zack Ryder’s hopes and dreams were crushed on Raw, but WWE has the potential to tell a good story here. Even though the WWE doesn’t seem to want to push Ryder, his title win proved that the fans are still willing to get behind him. With this feud WWE has a legitimate chance to turn Zack into the star the fans have always wanted him to be. Hopefully they get it right this time around.
#3 – Charlotte vs Natalya
WWE held a ceremony on Raw to introduce the new Women’s Championship and all of the women from the roster appeared in the ring. Charlotte then started bragging so everyone left the ring with the exception of Natalya. Nattie stuck around and put Charlotte in her place when she told her she needs to learn some respect. She then locked in the Sharpshooter before Ric Flair broke it up.
Charlotte and Natalya have proved in the past that they can put on a great match together. WWE has done a great job of rebooting the women’s division and a Charlotte vs Natalya feud feels like the right rivalry to keep the momentum going.
#2 – Enzo and Big Cass vs The Dudley Boyz
There were a few debuts on Raw but without a doubt Enzo and Big Cass had the most memorable moment. They confronted The Dudley Boyz and they ripped them to shreds on the mic as the crowd sang along with almost every word.
People have been waiting to see Enzo and Big Cass debut on the main roster for a long time and their debut more than lived up to the hype. WWE needs more stars in the tag team division and these guys have the potential to become fan favorites on a mainstream level. But first they have to get through The Dudley Boyz.
#1 – AJ Styles vs Roman Reigns
AJ Styles defeated Cesaro, Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho in a fatal 4 way match on Raw to become the new number 1 contender. The win was a good move on WWE’s part because it shows that WWE is still invested in Styles going forward, and it made up for his loss at Mania.
Reigns vs Styles feels like a fresh feud and it will be nice to see some new blood in the title picture. But we can’t forget that Triple H is still entitled to a rematch with Reigns, so don’t be surprised if he inserts himself in this feud as well.
What did you think of the Raw after Mania? Which feuds are you looking forward to? Sound off in the comments below.
I think to, once again, keep Reigns from losing cleanly, and with reports all over the place, Anderson and Gallows interferes in the match (Triple H involved in the match or not) to help AJ win the belt. BulletClub can now go on to start their heel run and WILL ultimately set up an amazing Shield v Bullet Club feud. Book that.
Damn, Shield vs Bullet Club? That would be great and I would love to see it.
