Dana White revealed earlier in the week during an interview with Michael Landsberg that he’s found CM Punk’s first likely opponent. White said that he’s lining up Mickey Gall to fight Punk. But first Mickey has to defeat Michael Jackson during the UFC 196 prelims to advance to the fight with CM Punk.
So if Mickey Gall does win, when will he be fighting CM Punk? White was recently a guest on the Toucher & Rich show and he revealed that he’s thinking Punk will fight at UFC 199 in June.
“The CM Punk fight is probably going to be in June. UFC 199 is what I’m thinking.” White said.
He also talked about how well he thinks CM Punk will do in the UFC and he admitted that it’s going to be tough for him.
“You know the guy has never fought, he’s just started training and, you know… this is a tough business to get into [laughs]. When Brock Lesnar came into the UFC, you know, he had a serious wrestling pedigree. And not just WWE wrestling, legit collegiate wrestling. CM Punk doesn’t have any of that. It’s going to be tough for him.” he added.
