Over the last year a number of big names have retired such as Goldberg, John Cena, AJ Styles, Brock Lesnar and more. Now it seems that a big player behind the scenes is also getting ready to call it a career.
PWInsider is reporting they’ve confirmed with multiple sources that Bruce Prichard is expected to retire from his position as Executive Director – Creative Writing & Talent (CWT) following WrestleMania season next year.
It’s being said that after stepping away from his full-time role Prichard would remain with the company on a consulting basis. However, he would no longer live in Stamford, nor would he retain his current duties. One source pegged WrestleMania as the end of Prichard’s run with the company, but another source noted that there could be some leeway when it comes to the timeline.
Bruce Prichard first started working with WWE in the 1990s, and later parted ways with the company in 2008 before he eventually returned to WWE in 2019 when he joined the creative team.
Currently the belief is that the writing teams on Raw, SmackDown and NXT all full under Bruce Prichard when it comes to the hierarchy behind the scenes in WWE. At this point in time it’s not clear who could be taking over Prichard’s role when he retires.
It was also recently reported that a former WWE Champion is expected to retire next year and you can get more on that here.
