This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite featured a number of qualifying matches for the Clockwork Carnage match at WrestleDream, one of which happened to be Adam Copeland vs. Josh Alexander.

After he defeated Josh Alexander, Adam Copeland got on the mic and talked about how he’s not the guy on the poster that kids put on their wall anymore.

Cope acknowledged that he’s aging out, and said because of that 2027 will be his final year as a professional wrestler. He then went on to say that because the clock is ticking he has to go after the AEW World Championship.

Right after Copeland made the announcement, Don Callis interrupted and walked out with Brian Cage by his side. Callis told Cope that he doesn’t like his chances in 2027, and he doesn’t like his chances of making it to Clockwork Carnage on Saturday. The Don Callis Family then appeared behind Cope and beat him down.

Konosuke Takeshita and The Conglomeration then made their way out into the arena and they made the save as they chased off the Don Callis Family. Takeshita then checked on Cope ahead of his match with Brian Cage.

Adam Copeland previously announced in 2011 that he had to retire from professional wrestling after he was diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis. He made a miraculous comeback in 2020 when he entered the Royal Rumble as Edge, and he has remained active in the ring ever since.
