Unfortunately the wrestling world is dealing with another tragedy as Luchablog on X is reporting that referee Gerardo German Pineda, known as El Buho, was refereeing a match between Hijo de Fishman and the current Mascara Sagrada in Hidalgo, Mexico on Wednesday, and the referee passed away after Hijo de Fishman gave El Buho a double underhook piledriver.
According to the report El Buho never get back up after taking the move, and he was on the mat for several minutes before anyone checked on him because they thought he was selling. There was no medical personnel on hand, but when paramedics arrived they confirmed El Buho had passed away.
36-year-old El Hijo de Fishman has been arrested and is in police custody. Superluchas reports that Fishman was turned over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office on charges of manslaughter. There is a 48 hour deadline to present him before a judge and it will be determined at the initial hearing if there is enough evidence to sentence him.
