Last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown featured a huge main event as CM Punk defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Sami Zayn. The match featured interference from Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, and Kevin Owens, and when it was all said and done Sami pinned CM Punk to win the Undisputed WWE Championship for the second time in his career.
Following Sami Zayn’s big win on SmackDown it was reported that the title change was done for storyline reasons, and it was also reported that there were some people who were against the idea, but it seems that CM Punk wasn’t one of them.
False Finish is reporting that CM Punk was not against the idea of dropping the title to Sami Zayn as they recently responded to a post about the report with a tweet which said, “The guy who dropped the title and the guy who books the show weren’t against it”
This is the second time that CM Punk and Sami Zayn faced off in a match for the Undisputed WWE Championship as Punk ended Sami’s first reign after nine days when he returned on Raw in Chicago back in June and defeated Sami in his first match since WrestleMania 42. It’s not clear at this point in time if CM Punk will be getting a rematch for title.
