The WWE SummerSlam premium live event has come and gone, but the show gave fans plenty to talk about. Night 1 of the big show featured a huge main event as Oba Femi defeated Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell. After the match Lesnar showed respect to Femi when he hugged him then got on the mic and said that he is the past, and Oba is the future.
Following his match against Oba Femi at SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar has officially been moved to the alumni section on the WWE roster page on the company’s website. This isn’t the first time WWE has done this as Brock was previously moved to the alumni section after he seemingly retired following his match at WrestleMania back in April.

WWE did not clarify Brock Lesnar’s status with the company one way or another on Raw, but a video package showing highlights from his career as well as quotes of praise from his peers did air during the show.
Paul Heyman was shown watching the promo backstage as it ended and Oba Femi approached him. Oba told Paul Heyman to please thank Brock Lesnar for him. Heyman said he would, and he congratulated The Ruler.
Oba Femi then made his way to the ring for a short promo and he paid respect to Lesnar as he said that they went to war at SummerSlam, but came out with new found respect for one another. Femi said he now realizes that Brock Lesnar returned to challenge him after WrestleMania because he was testing him. The Ruler told the fans that he emerged victorious, passed Brock Lesnar’s test, and now The Beast can finally rest.
Triple H was asked about Brock Lesnar’s status during the SummerSlam post-show and he said, “I don’t know. You saw Brock in whatever way he retired a few months ago and then come back and do this. But for Brock to walk back to the ring, to bring Oba back in there with him, to put him over verbally and physically as, ‘This is the future of the business. This is the today. This is the now. This is the future, and I am the past.’ That’s a pretty bold statement. Brock doesn’t just say things. Without reading into it any more than that, ‘I am the past’ is what he said. But you know as well as I do, Brock does what Brock wants to do. So I would take what he said at face value and let’s see.”
