Carlito has been lucky enough to have a long career in the professional wrestling business, and he wrapped up another run with WWE back in June of 2025 when his contract with the company expired.
The former WWE Intercontinental Champion has remained active on the independent scene, but he recently explained during an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet that he’s getting closer to the end of his career.
“Oh yeah, I’m getting there. I still got a little bit left in the tank. Not that I don’t want to do it anymore, just focusing more on the exit plan. It looks pretty good, man. The WWE run helped out a lot with that, with the retirement plan. So, yeah, a couple more years, and then I can ride off into the sunset.”
When asked how many years he has left in the wrestling business Carlito said, “No, probably around 5. 5 should be the goal.”
Carlito also confirmed that he didn’t have any conversations with WWE about a possible return following the expiration of his contract when he added, “No, it was no conversation, either way. I never spoke to them, they never spoke to me, just kind of let it run out.”
