WWE has released a number of wrestlers over the last few weeks and some surprising names were cut. Kairi Sane was one of the more shocking names as Sane was actively involved in an ongoing storyline with Iyo Sky and Asuka that had been playing out on Monday Night Raw.
Now it seems that Kairi Sane may not be entirely done with WWE as Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that there’s a belief within WWE that there’s better than a 50% chance of Kairi Sane showing up at Backlash.
“Within WWE, it’s felt there is a better than 50% chance that Kairi shows up at Backlash to at least finish off that storyline,” Alvarez wrote.
Iyo Sky is currently set to face off against Asuka in a singles match at Backlash, so it will be interesting to see if Kairi Sane does indeed show up on Saturday.
Following her WWE departure it was rumored that Sane was released because she wanted to return to Japan, but she seemingly denied those rumors when she posted, “What I can say is I know there’s been a lot of speculation, but I truly love this work, my teammates, and my fans. I’ve never walked away, and I’ve given my all in everything I do. I hope you’re all doing well.”
WWE Backlash is set to air live from the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida on Saturday, May 9 and the full card for the show can be seen below.
