Last week on Friday Night SmackDown, Pat McAfee was revealed to be the mystery caller that Randy Orton has been talking to, and McAfee is now one of the main characters in Randy Orton’s storyline with Cody Rhodes ahead of WrestleMania.
The Pat McAfee reveal did not receive a positive reaction from fans on social media, and former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest also recently admitted that he didn’t like the reveal either.
Gabby LaSpisa recently asked Damian Priest for his opinion on Pat McAfee being added to the Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes, and he held nothing back as he explained why he’s not a fan when it comes to what WWE is doing with McAfee.
“It sucks. Not a fan. You know [I’m] somebody who knows Pat, get along with him. But for me, that’s not my taste. I don’t think it helps anything. He didn’t need it. So, for me, and I’m sure a lot of people aren’t gonna be happy that I said that, but in the locker room, like specifically, a lot of us weren’t happy, and that’s real. Like, I was asked by some of the younger talent, like what did I think, and I thought it was bull.
We’re a PG show, right? But he can could come and he could throw f-bombs, and say whatever he wants. For me, that’s one of those things that so many other talent, even from one word, could benefit, and it’s like, wow, now they’re up here. Instead, you take somebody who’s not even here all the time, and gets away with saying something like that, who doesn’t even need it. Not gonna lie, it kinda p*ssed me off.”
