Right now all eyes are looking ahead to WrestleMania 42, but once the show is said and done the wrestling world will be talking about Backlash. The show is set to emanate from the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida on Saturday, May 9th and it looks like WWE already has a big match lined up for the event.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Randy Orton is currently scheduled to team with Pat McAfee to face Cody Rhodes and Jelly Roll in one of the key matches planned for the Backlash card.
“McAfee will team with Orton against Rhodes & Jelly Roll coming out of WrestleMania and be a key match at the Backlash PPV on 5/9, at least as of plans that were confirmed to us by multiple people and were still in play at press time.”
It’s also being reported that Jelly Roll is expected to be in Cody Rhodes’ corner at WrestleMania 42 when Cody defends the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton with Pat McAfee in Orton’s corner.
Celebrities have been getting more and more involved with WWE over the last few years, and it doesn’t look like the celebrity involvement will be toned down following WrestleMania 42.
