Over the last few months there’s been a lot of speculation regarding Chris Jericho’s next move. It was rumored that Jericho could end up jumping for AEW to WWE, but ultimately he returned to All Elite Wrestling during last week’s episode of Dynamite in Winnipeg.
Recently Tony Khan spoke with The Coach and Vince Russo on Coach and Bro, and Tony was asked how close Chris Jericho came to signing a deal with WWE and returning to the company.
“I can’t say with any certainty. I do know that Chris had a choice, and he wanted to be in AEW. He would be the best person to ask. But I know that I’ve been in communication with Chris. He told me he definitely wanted to be in AEW and very specifically in Winnipeg on that date. We’ve had that circled for a long time going back to last year.”
While talking about Chris Jericho’s mindset when he made the decision Tony added, “It was a choice that Chris made, rather being in AEW than wrestling anywhere else, and I think that’s awesome. So I can’t say for sure Coach exactly what his mind was or what he was thinking but he definitely has been consistent that he loves AEW and that he wants to be here and I’m glad he chose to be in AEW and that’s a choice he made because he was a free agent.”
Jericho did not say much during his return last week as he simply told the fans, “I’m home.” Currently Chris Jericho is being advertised for this week’s episode of Dynamite, and he is expected to address his return during the show.
Stay tuned for updates.
