For years fans wondered if Sting would ever join WWE, and he finally made his debut when he interfered in the main event at Survivor Series in 2014.

Sting vs. The Undertaker was considered by many fans to be a major dream match, and Sting signing with WWE gave fans hope that it would finally happen. However, Sting only competed in a few matches during his WWE run and he never came face to face with The Deadman.

During a recent virtual signing Road Dogg was asked why Vince McMahon didn’t seem to be interested in booking Sting vs. The Undertaker, and he revealed that Vince tried to play it off as if he didn’t know who Sting was.

“Vince asked me one time in a meeting, ‘Road Dogg, is this guy over?’ He asked me about Sting, like he didn’t know who Sting was. ‘So, he’s their guy? He’s been their guy?’ And it made me wonder to the point, because he’s a showman, I just answered his questions then I thought later, why would he work me? I know he knows who that guy is. Why would he do that?”

Sting later announced his retirement at the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016, but eventually came out of retirement when he signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2020. Ultimately Sting hung up his boots for good after he competed in his final match at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view in March of 2024.
