The road to WrestleMania has been full of twists and turns over the last few months and pieces have fallen into place for the WrestleMania 42 card.
Last week on Friday Night SmackDown, Nick Aldis told Sami Zayn that he didn’t have a spot for him at WrestleMania, and Sami went on to secure a spot for himself when he answered Carmelo Hayes’ open challenge then won the United States Championship.
It was confirmed shortly after Sami won the title that he will be defending the United States Championship against Trick Williams on the Grandest Stage of Them All. The announcement left many wondering what the future holds for Carmelo Hayes, and where he goes from here.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that it’s possible Carmelo Hayes will be added to the Sami Zayn vs. Trick Williams match for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 42. Regardless of whether or not he is added to the match the expectation is that Hayes will remain in the program.
Carmelo Hayes won the United States Championship back in December when he defeated Ilja Dragunov, and he went on to hold the title for 98 days. Judging from the social media reactions to his loss last week there seem to be a lot of fans who are hoping to see him compete at WrestleMania, so it will be interesting to see how things play out as we get closer to the show.
