Gunther has established himself as a force to be reckoned with over the last few months as he retired John Cena back in December then went on to retire AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble in January.
WWE has clearly been pushing Gunther as one of the top heels for some time now, but The Ring General has been noticeably absent from WWE programming in recent weeks.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select is reporting that there are people within WWE who fully expect Gunther to have a substantial role at WrestleMania despite his recent absence. One source noted that having Gunther miss WrestleMania wouldn’t benefit anyone involved.
A match with Rey Mysterio has been rumored, but Rey Mysterio vs. Gunther seems to be off the table due to Rey dealing with a rib injury. However, a source who was at television on Monday indicated that the company has a spot for Gunther at WrestleMania.
As of right now there’s currently no word on what Gunther might be doing at WrestleMania 42, but it appears that the former World Heavyweight Champion is expected to be on the show.
