The WWE creative team recently underwent a major shake up as it’s been reported that WWE Hall of Famer Brian “Road Dogg” James is done with the company.

PWInsider is reporting that Road Dogg quit WWE on Thursday and he quit the company in person. WWE sources have reportedly cited that Road Dogg openly expressed his unhappiness and tendered his resignation from the creative team.

It was noted that the WWE Hall of Famer was not let go and nothing that happened was a result of WWE removing him. The situation was said to have been the exact opposite as he walked away from the job.

Road Dogg is currently being advertised for meet and greets at WWE World in April. He is still under a WWE Legends contract that is separate from his former employment with WWE, so it’s possible he will still be appearing at the meet and greets.

The belief is that Road Dogg will be in demand for appearances on the convention circuit and the independent scene, and a New Age Outlaws reunion would be well received by fans at conventions.

Cory Hays of Bodyslam is also reporting that Road Dogg was upset with his diminishing role in WWE creative in recent months and decided to walk away. One person stated that it seemed like it was inevitable he was on his way out.

Brian “Road Dogg” James originally parted ways with WWE in 2001 and returned to the company in 2011. He was released from WWE in January of 2022, but later returned in August of 2022. It was reported in February of 2025 that he had taken on the role of co-lead writer for the SmackDown brand.
