This week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown aired live from the Bell Centre in Montreal and the show featured two title matches. Carmelo Hayes successfully defended his WWE United States Championship against Ilja Dragunov in the first title match of the night, and The Wyatt Sicks went on to defend the WWE Tag Team Championship against MFT later in the show.
Before the match kicked off Solo Sikoa handed the lantern to Talla Tonga and told him to take it to the backstage area. Solo and Tama Tonga competed in the match on behalf of MFT while Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis defended the WWE Tag Team Championship.
However, Talla Tonga later returned to the ringside area with the lantern and hit Erick Rowan with a big boot them threw him over the barricade. Talla Tonga grabbed the lantern once again and Uncle Howdy snuck up behind him then locked in the Mandible Claw.
While Uncle Howdy was distracted, Solo hit him with the Samoan Spike then he picked up the lantern. Tama Tonga pushed Dexter Lumis into the ropes and Solo hit Dexter Lumis in the face with the lantern while the referee was distracted. Tama Tonga followed up with the Cuthroat and pinned Lumis to win the WWE Tag Team Championship.
