WrestleMania season is right around the corner which means that the top matches for the Show of Shows are likely to be revealed in the coming weeks. Following Survivor Series it was reported that WWE was looking to book a third Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns match for WrestleMania 42, but those plans have since been nixed.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that there are those in the company who did feel that Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 42 was the way to go. However, Triple H changed his mind and all of the creative in the direction was thrown into the trash.

Last week it was reported that Triple H took another look at creative plans for Royal Rumble through WrestleMania and decided that spending months building up another Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns match could lead to audience fatigue.

The title picture changed in a major way earlier this month as Drew McIntyre defeated Cody Rhodes to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion. The title change was reportedly decided 48 hours before the match and the decision was made that it would be better for Cody to chase the title heading into WrestleMania season.

The two options for WrestleMania are Cody vs. Drew vs. Jacob Fatu in a triple threat for the title, or Cody vs. Drew in a singles match. The expectation is that Roman Reigns will be the odd man out when it comes to the title picture this year, but his direction will likely become more clear at the Royal Rumble.
