CM Punk has firmly solidified his spot at the top of WWE as he won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship last month at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The Second City Saint has achieved massive success in the wrestling world and he’s also been taking on more acting roles in recent years.

Deadline is reporting that CM Punk has landed a role in the upcoming Netflix film The Bodyguard which is based on the Katherine Center novel. The film is described as a Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki-led rom-com.

The novel focuses on “a no-nonsense bodyguard is assigned to protect a charming action star over the holidays, leading sparks to fly and secrets to unravel, with Christmas getting a whole lot more complicated.” However, specific plot details regarding the film are being kept under wraps, so it’s not clear how closely it will follow the novel.

CM Punk’s character, Doghouse, is described as a “physically intimidating member of the security detail, who is known for his loyalty and humor.” Other names previously announced for the cast include Andie MacDowell, Walker Hayes, Noah LaLonde, and Toby Sandeman. Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum is set to direct the film based on a script by Erin Cardillo & Richard Keith.

Recently CM Punk has been featured on the big screen as one half of the Zebros in Zootopia 2, and he will also be appearing in the upcoming indie horror film Night Patrol which is set to be released on January 16th. Stay tuned for updates.
