Survivor Series has come and gone, but the show featured a huge main event which saw two all star teams clash in a WarGames match. Brock Lesnar, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul teamed up to face CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes and The Usos. Ultimately The Vision’s team won after a mysterious masked man interfered and attacked CM Punk which allowed Breakker to pick up the win.
The Wrestling Observer reports that originally Austin Theory was supposed to be in the men’s WarGames match and he was supposed to team with The Vision. However, Jacob Fatu’s injury forced WWE to move the Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre feud up one month.
Cody Rhodes went on to replace Fatu in the WarGames match and the idea was that Drew McIntyre would be a better fit for the match than Austin Theory. In the end Theory still had a big impact on the match as it’s being reported that he was the masked man who interfered. Following Survivor Series, Paul Heyman claimed that he did not know the identity of the masked man, but the angle is expected to be addressed on Raw this week.
WWE also planted the seeds for two big WrestleMania matches during the Survivor Series main event, and you can get more details on what’s being planned for WrestleMania 42 here.
