The last few months have certainly been interesting for AJ Styles as he put on a highly acclaimed match with John Cena at Crown Jewel, and he recently won the WWE World Tag Team Titles alongside Dragon Lee.
The Phenomenal One also got the wrestling world talking during the September 8th episode of Raw when he cut a cryptic promo during an ad break where he claimed that “somebody doesn’t want me here” The promo immediately caught the interest of fans on social media as they tried to decipher who AJ was talking about.
Styles addressed the promo during a recent appearance on the No Contest Wrestling podcast, and he said that he was trying to set something up, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. The former WWE Champion also clarified that he wasn’t talking about Triple H.
“It was something I was trying to set up that I don’t think is going to happen. It’s not necessarily not true, but I’m not talking about Triple H. Let’s clear that up. But yeah, that’s all I can say about it.”
Judging from AJ’s comments it seems unlikely that WWE will be following up on the seed he planted during the promo, which is unfortunate considering the level of intrigue it created. One way or another the clock is ticking on The Phenomenal One’s career as he has confirmed that he plans to retire from in-ring competition in 2026.
Stay tuned for updates.
