The annual WWE Survivor Series premium live event is quickly approaching and this week on Raw two WarGames matches were confirmed. So far we know that CM Punk, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso will face Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed and Logan Paul which means there are still open spots on both teams.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the teams for WarGames will likely be finalized on Monday during Raw at Madison Square Garden. He also addressed rumors regarding both Roman Reigns and John Cena joining the men’s team and said that he was told that won’t be happening.
“Now that John Cena already beat Dominik for the (WWE Intercontinental) title I thought that means that match (Mysterio vs. Cena) isn’t happening in San Diego. I figured, why not do Cena, Roman Reigns, Punk, Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes and make it like a dream team for the babyface team at WarGames. Now I can tell you that that’s not happening. I was told ‘not even close.’”
It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Logan Paul is replacing Seth Rollins in the WarGames match and that Brock Lesnar and Austin Theory were originally planned for the heel team. Cody Rhodes is replacing Jacob Fatu on the men’s side with Jimmy Uso or LA Knight seemingly the favorite for the final spot.
It’s also being reported that Rey Mysterio will not be wrestling Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series. John Cena is planned for the show, and plans for how he fits into Survivor Series will likely become more clear during Monday’s episode of Raw.
