The Rock is without a doubt one of the most well known actors in the world and he’s been a part of some massive movies throughout his career. For months now The Final Boss has been hyping up The Smashing Machine and the film officially debuted in theaters last week.
Over the weekend the film came in third place at the box office taking in $6 million dollars on a $50 million dollar budget. Unfortunately for The Rock, The Smashing Machine was the worst box office opening of his career.
Recently The Great One took to social media to comment on the film’s box office performance when he posted the following:
“From deep in my grateful bones, thank you to everyone who has watched “The Smashing Machine”.
In our storytelling world, you can’t control box office results — but what I realized you can control is your performance, and your commitment to completely disappear and go elsewhere.
And I will always run to that opportunity.
It was my honor to transform in this role for my director Benny Safdie @bowedtie. Thank you brother for believing in me.
Truth is this film has changed my life.
With deep gratitude, respect and radical empathy,
dj”
