For weeks WWE hyped up the first ever WrestlePalooza premium live event and the show emanated from Indianapolis over the weekend. Cody Rhodes defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre in the main event, and the show concluded with Cody standing tall after he picked up the victory. While Cody managed to retain on Saturday it sounds like a completely different finish was pitched for the match.
Bodyslam.net is reporting that Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre pitched the idea of Randy Orton costing Cody the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestlePalooza. The loss would have set up Cody chasing the title again, and winning it back from Drew McIntyre before Randy Orton ultimately turned on Cody.
Following WWE WrestlePalooza it was confirmed that Cody Rhodes will be facing off against Seth Rollins for the Crown Jewel Championship at Crown Jewel: Perth on October 11. For now it seems that Cody will be focused on his upcoming match with Seth, but it will be interesting to see who steps up to challenge The American Nightmare in the months to come.
WrestlePalooza was the first PLE to air on ESPN’s new streaming service. It’s worth noting that ESPN reviewed WrestlePalooza and gave the show a C rating.
