We’re heading into SummerSlam weekend and some of the biggest stars in WWE are set to step into the ring at MetLife Stadium. While the show is loaded with big names there are several former champions who are currently sitting on the sidelines, and one of them happens to be Bianca Belair. However, it seems that the EST could be making her way back to WWE programming sooner than later.
WrestleVotes is reporting that Bianca Belair is closing in on her return. According to the report Bianca Belair is expected to be cleared for and in-ring return over the coming week. It was noted that Belair could appear as soon as next week’s episode of SmackDown, but she will not be cleared before SummerSlam this weekend.
Bianca Belair last stepped into the ring back in April when she faced off against Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley in a triple threat match for the WWE Women’s World Championship. Ultimately Iyo Sky retained her title when she picked up the victory.
Following the match Bianca Belair revealed that she broke a finger during the title bout. During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Bianca explained exactly how the injury happened.
“So it was when we were doing the triple German spot, when IYO was on the top rope, and then it was Rhea, then it was me, and I came in German suplexed both of them off, and my hand got stuck underneath Rhea. Also I went to the wrong side of Rhea, but my hand, I thought she was gonna go further over me, we kind of just collapsed together.”
“So when my hand went back, it got stuck under her, and she literally crashed on my hand. I knew immediately it was broken, because usually in a match, something happens, and you don’t feel it until after the match, your adrenaline wears off, and you’re like, Ow, my finger. But in the moment I thought I broke all my fingers.”
