After CM Punk walked out of WWE in 2014, fans waited years for him to return, but as the years went on a CM Punk return seemed less and less likely. In November of 2023 the unthinkable happened when Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series, and Triple H played a big role when it came to bringing Punk back to the company.
Triple H recently discussed CM Punk’s return with Stephanie McMahon during an episode of her new show Stephanie’s Places, and he recalled what the conversation was like between himself and Punk when they finally connected.
“If ever a guy you said will ‘never return here,’ it would be CM Punk. Just if you look at the history and you look at everything that’s gone down, his side, company’s side, I think he would’ve said it a couple years ago, ‘never happening,’ but things change.”
“When I spoke to him on the phone I said, ‘Phil, if you’re the same person now that you were ten years ago, you wasted ten years of your life. If I’m that same person then I wasted ten years of my life, so let’s put all that stuff beside us and talk about what are the possibilities.”
