AEW Reportedly Considered Releasing Another Wrestler Recently

0

Four names recently parted ways with AEW as it was reported earlier this week that Ricky Starks, Miro, Bear Boulder and Malakai Black are all done with the company. Ricky Starks made a big move shortly after the news was revealed as Starks debuted on this week’s episode of NXT. The AEW releases have been a hot topic recently and it sounds like another name was also considered when the releases were discussed.

Sean Ross Sapp noted on Fightful’s NXT post-show that he had heard on Friday that some AEW releases would be happening. He also noted he had heard for a while that AEW had considered releasing, or letting contracts lapse for a few talents who were unhappy and wanted to go elsewhere. Rey Fenix was considered for a release at one point, but obviously that didn’t end up happening.

Last summer it was reported that The Lucha Bros. would likely be heading to WWE when their contracts with AEW expired. Penta finished up with the company last year and has since signed with WWE. However, Rey Fenix is still under contract with AEW as his deal extended due to time he missed while he was injured.

Stay tuned for more updates on Rey Fenix’s status as they become available.
