ECW went out of business decades ago, but the brand is still considered to be iconic by many wrestling fans around the world. Back in 2006, WWE launched their own version of ECW which was essentially the company’s third brand at the time.
A number of new ECW World Champions were crowned between 2006 and 2010 including Bobby Lashley, Matt Hardy, Mark Henry, John Morrison and of course CM Punk.
CM Punk’s ECW Championship reign kicked off on September 1, 2007 when he defeated John Morrison to win the title in a Last Chance match. Recently on the WWE Vault YouTube channel it was revealed that WWE created a new ECW Championship belt which was originally supposed to be given to CM Punk, but was never used.
