The landscape has changed over the last few years as the old regime is no longer in charge of WWE. Nowadays company officials are more open to the idea of WWE stars wrestling for other companies, but it seems that at least one idea involving Chelsea Green potentially wrestling in GCW was shot down.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that at one point there was an idea for Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green to face off against Joey Janela & Megan Bayne at the GCW show on 1/19/25 at the Hammerstein Ballroom. However, WWE didn’t go for it.
The Takedown on SI recently asked Matt Cardona about the rumored idea for the match with Chelsea Green and he said, “Im too busy being the Indy God to comment on internet rumors.”
One way or another both Cardona and Green are set to be in some high profile matches in the near future. Chelsea Green will compete in the WWE Women’s United States Championship tournament semi-finals this week on SmackDown, and Matt Cardona is set to challenge Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship at Final Battle on 12/20.
