Saturday Night’s Main Event is quickly approaching, and Triple H got the wrestling world talking recently when he posted a video of himself giving a case to Cody Rhodes which presumably holds the Winged Eagle belt. The Game told Cody that the gift was for “one night only.”
Fightful Select reports that there have been discussions in WWE about using the Winged Eagle belt and it’s something that Cody Rhodes has pushed for. Rhodes has made comments about bringing the belt back since 2022, and also noted that he was still working on bringing the belt back as of September 2024.
A number of talent have reportedly brought up the idea of bringing classic belts back. Cody Rhodes has been the most vocal. It’s being said that this was a contributing factor when it came to WWE giving the new WWE Tag Team Titles a more classic look.
The World Titles and World Tag Team Titles on the Monday Night Raw brand were meant to be an homage to the Big Gold Belt with WWE branding on them.
