Cody Rhodes has faced off against a wide variety of wrestlers throughout the course of his career, and one of his greatest rivals during his first run with WWE was the Big Show.
Back in 2012, Cody Rhodes and Big Show faced off in a tables match at the Extreme Rules premium live event with the Intercontinental Championship on the line. At one point Big Show was standing on the apron and Cody won the match when he hit Show with a dropkick which sent his foot crashing through a table that was set up at ringside.
Recently Cody Rhodes reflected on the match which speaking with Adrian Hernandez, and he also credited Big Show for being some who was influential in his career.
“It’s fun to pull back the curtain on this one now because I do think this person deserves credit for it and didn’t get any ’cause so many people thought, ‘Oh, maybe that wasn’t supposed to happen’ — the Big Show.
Big Show was so influential in my career and doesn’t even realize it because I was going through it when I was going up against him and, man, I’m lucky to have had that experience with him. That was his idea, Michael Hayes was right there to say, ‘Yep, let’s do it,’ and it ended up being a very fun moment.”
Currently Big Show is working in All Elite Wrestling under his real name Paul Wight. Over the weekend he made an appearance at the Full Gear pay-per-view when he did commentary for the Big Boom AJ vs. QT Marshall match.
