Over the last few years a number of former WWE stars have made the jump to AEW, but it seems that a former champion could be leaving the company. Fightful Select reports that Miro (formerly known as Rusev in WWE) has requested his release from All Elite Wrestling. At this point in time it’s not known if the release request has been granted, of if there’s any interest from WWE.

Miro first debuted with All Elite Wrestling back in September of 2020 and signed a contract that was set to keep him with the company until the spring of 2022. The former TNT Champion went on to sign a four year extension that could potentially keep him with the company until spring of 2026.

It’s been some time since AEW fans have seen Miro on TV as he last competed at the Worlds End pay-per-view in December of 2023 when he defeated Andrade El Idolo in a singles match. So far he has not wrestled on AEW TV in 2024, but is said to be healthy.

Internally Miro was considered for the Casino Gauntlet match at All In, and earlier this year he had pitched the idea of working with Jon Moxley, but the two sides weren’t able to get on the same page creatively.
