This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw was hyped up as the season premiere for the red brand and the show aired live from the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Ahead of Raw, WWE announced that Bret “The Hitman” Hart would be appearing on the show and Joe Tessitore stood in the ring then gave Bret a big introduction before his music hit.

Joe Tessitore said they had a big announcement to make regarding Bret Hart. Wade Barrett then asked Bret Hart how good it feels to be in the Saddledome. Hart said no one took more pride than he did in being a Canadian champion. Bret told the fans that he proved he’s the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.

Gunther’s music hit and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion made his way down to the ring. The fans booed Gunther loudly as he tried to speak. Gunther said that Bret is one of his childhood heroes. He said it feels like a passing of the torch moment because Bret is the best there ever was, and now he’s looking at the best there ever will be. Gunther told Bret that he will always be a close second to his favorite, and his favorite is none other than Bill Goldberg.

Sami Zayn’s music then hit to a big reaction from the Canadian crowd. Zayn told Gunther he’s got a lot of nerve talking to Bret the way that he just did because Bret is a hero. He told Gunther that if he’s the best there is he should prove it and put his title on the line.

Gunther told Bret Hart that he’s not in his league, and Sami Zayn is far away from being in a league with Bret, so his answer remains no. The Ring General dropped the mic and left the ring.

Bret Hart criticized Gunther as he told him he looks like a coward. Sami Zayn exited the ring then got in Gunther’s face. Gunther tried to strike Sami, but Sami blocked it and started striking The Ring General before referees pulled them apart.

As Gunther was leaving Sami Zayn celebrated with Bret Hart in the ring.
