The Rock is one of the biggest names in the history of professional wrestling and he’s been a key figure on the road to WrestleMania 40. The Great One is currently set to team up with Roman Reigns to face Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins on the Grandest Stage of Them All, but it seems that he’ll likely be stepping away from WWE after that.
PWInsider is reporting that The Rock’s next film The Smashing Machine is currently set to film from 5/1 through 8/1 which means Rock is unlikely to do anything physical on WWE programming during that time.
The film will reportedly be shooting in Los Angeles, New Mexico, Tokyo, Japan and Vancouver. The film will be an adaptation of the documentary The Smashing Machine: The Life and Times of Mark Kerr. The Rock will be playing the role of Mark Kerr with Emily Blunt playing the role of Kerr’s wife.
The hype level for WrestleMania 40 seems to be at an all time high as fans are patiently waiting to see how things play out with The Rock, The Bloodline and Cody Rhodes. It was recently reported that WWE is hoping for The Rock to wrestle more than one match this year, but it seems unlikely that it will be happening sometime between 5/1 and 8/1.
Stay tuned for updates.
