During AEW Full Gear Zero Hour, MJF & Samoa Joe successfully defended the ROH Tag Team Championship against The Gunns and Adam Cole also made a surprise appearance during the match when he walked down the ramp on crutches.
After the match MJF was talking to Adam Cole when The Gunns attacked him from behind. The Gunns used a chair to repeatedly attack MJF’s knee, and MJF was stretchered out of the arena then put in an ambulance.
Later in the night it was announced that MJF was pulled from the main event due to injury. Adam Cole then confirmed that he would defend the AEW World Championship against Jay White on behalf of MJF.
When it came time for the main event Adam Cole made his way to the ring on crutches with a boot on his foot. Jay White entered with the Triple B around his waist and The Gunns by his side.
After the announcements were made Jay White mocked Adam Cole by hopping on one foot. Before the match kicked off sirens could be heard as MJF drove the ambulance into the arena and made his entrance. MJF entered the ring ready to defend his belt and the referee rang the bell.
During the match MJF was outside the ring and The Gunns tried to smash his knee with a steel chair once again, but the referee saw what was happening and banned them from ringside.
Adam Cole stayed at ringside and Jay White grabbed the ROH Tag Teal Title belt from Cole then hit MJF in the head with it. White pinned MJF for a two count.
The referee got knocked out and Adam Cole put the Dynamite diamond ring on the mat for MJF, but Jay White grabbed it instead. Jay White charged at MJF and MJF hit him with a low blow. MJF eventually hit Jay White with the ring to win the match and retain the title.
After the match Adam Cole got in the ring with MJF then hugged him. Cole and MJF left together as the show went off the air.
