A few years ago WWE signed a deal with Saudi Arabia and it’s been very lucrative for the company. The money that WWE gets paid to hold events in Saudi Arabia allows the company to pay wrestlers big money if needed and it sounds like Goldberg was getting paid very well for some of the matches he’s wrestled in recent years.
Goldberg wrestled in Saudi Arabia four times facing off against The Undertaker, The Fiend, Bobby Lashley and Roman Reigns. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the Hall of Famer was paid $2 million dollars for each match.
The last time Goldberg competed in Saudi Arabia he faced off against Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in 2022. He’s made it clear that he doesn’t want to end his career on a loss to The Tribal Chief and has recently indicated that he’s considering doing a self promoted retirement tour. Goldberg reportedly met with at least one promoter during WrestleMania week to discuss the idea of a farewell show in Israel and possibly other countries as well.
Tony Khan has said that he finds the idea of Goldberg in AEW to be interesting, but so far there’s been no word on possible talks between Goldberg and All Elite Wrestling. It was noted in the Observer that Khan would likely love to feature Goldberg in some fashion, but paying him $2 million per match wouldn’t be cost effective for AEW at the moment.
