Cody Rhodes returned to the ring back in January, and he punched his ticket to WrestleMania when he won the 30 man Royal Rumble match. The American Nightmare went on to challenge The Tribal Chief for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39, but in the end Roman Reigns ended up defeating Cody Rhodes.
The decision to have Cody Rhodes lose at WrestleMania has proven to be controversial among fans, but Road Dogg recently explained on his Oh You Didn’t Know? podcast why he thinks it was the right call.
“He came in and he had no adversity. He went right through the [Royal] Rumble, right through everybody, and right to the champion. And so the argument could be made, if you just give it to him now, did he earn it?”
Road Dogg went on to praise Cody Rhodes for all he’s accomplished in the world of wrestling when he added, “From a human standpoint, holy mackerel. He’s an entrepreneur in the industry of sports entertainment, and that has never existed before.”
