Money in the Bank has become one of WWE’s biggest annual premium live events, and the company recently announced that the show will take place from the O2 Arena in London, England on July 1.
Fightful Select reports that they recently spoke to WWE sources about why WWE would want to run Money in the Bank at the O2 Arena when the company could likely sell out a stadium following the success of Clash at the Castle. One WWE source noted that the company views the O2 Arena as the Madison Square Garden of England, so it was an arena they wanted to travel to.
Another source noted that running a show of this magnitude helps to establish Money in the Bank as one of the company’s biggest premium live events. It’s being said that rumors of WWE doing away with Money in the Bank as its own premium live event were never considered seriously. It was also noted that WWE does not currently have booking plans set for the show.
Nick Khan was credited with many of the dates, locations and venues for WWE shows that were successful in 2022, but this was said to have been a collaborative effort.
