Roman Reigns has been the Universal Champion for over two years now and earlier this year at WrestleMania he captured the WWE Championship when he defeated Brock Lesnar on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Since then WWE has been billing Roman Reigns as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, but since The Tribal Chief is on SmackDown the Raw brand has been left without a world title.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that there’s been a lot of talk about creating a second title for the Monday Night Raw brand, or for the SmackDown brand if Roman ends up going to Raw. However, it was noted that as of this week WWE wasn’t planning on setting up a scenario where someone like Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre or Seth Rollins would be fighting for the new title at night one of WrestleMania.
It’s been some time since both brands have had their own world champion, but it looks like this is a problem that WWE will be looking to fix in the new year. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
