In recent weeks fans have seen the Maximum Male Models storyline play out on SmackDown with Max Dupri at the forefront. However, it was recently reported by PWTorch that Max Dupri will no longer be part of the storyline moving forward.
Fightful Select reports that Max Dupri was written out of this week’s SmackDown last minute and people associated with the segment weren’t given concrete information regarding his status moving forward. It’s being said that the Maximum Male Models angle was all Vince McMahon’s idea and he had a taken a particular interest in the storyline. Mace and Mansoor were on board, but Max Dupri had some reservations.
Vince McMahon came to the ring to produce the debut Maximum Male Models segment which is not something he does often. He also had a distinct vision for how he wanted Max Dupri to sound and even went as far as to say that he wanted the character to sound nothing like LA Knight.
One source indicated that Max Dupri challenged the writers and, “ruffled some feathers with a couple of scripts.” Another source noted that Vince McMahon retiring was the best thing that could have happened for Max Dupri. It’s being said that he still has supporters in the company and it was hinted that the door wasn’t closed. Numerous people in WWE have put over his delivery.
