On Saturday night the Money in the Bank premium live event aired live from Las Vegas and it was an action packed show. Liv Morgan won the Money in the Bank contract in the first match then she went on to cash in on Ronda Rousey to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship later in the show.
The men’s Money in the Bank ladder match closed out the show, and it was won by Theory after Adam Pearce inserted him into the match as a surprise entrant.
WWE had to make some big changes to the location for Money in the Bank this year as it was originally set to take place from Allegiant Stadium, but the show was moved to the MGM Grand Arena. A recent report from WrestleVotes notes that a source in WWE indicated Cody Rhodes was originally supposed to win the Money in the Bank match when they said, “this show is a far cry from Cody winning the briefcase in an NFL stadium.”
Spoke to a source in Vegas just now about tonight’s MITB. Their words to me were “this show is a far cry from Cody winning the briefcase in an NFL stadium”… however, they are confident it will deliver.

If Cody was indeed the original planned winner for the men’s Money in the Bank match it would make sense as he was heavily featured in the marketing campaign for the show. Unfortunately Cody is out of action due to injury and fans are patiently waiting for his return.
