Last week Bryan Danielson announced that a mystery wrestler would be replacing him at Forbidden Door. That mystery wrestler turned out to be Claudio Castagnoli, and the former Cesaro is now All Elite.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that a lot of talent in WWE were shocked that Castagnoli signed with All Elite Wrestling given the size of the offer WWE made him.
It was noted that this was a very big deal with WWE talent because the feeling is that AEW must have matched, or topped WWE’s offer. The belief was that AEW was no longer doing that, and Claudio Castagnoli could have made a very substantial amount of money in WWE even though there’s little chance that the company would have pushed him.
Claudio Castagnoli was immediately recognized as a member of the Blackpool Combat Club upon his debut, and the group picked up a big win over the Jericho Appreciation Society on Wednesday. Stay tuned for more updates on Claudio’s status as they become available.
